Why has Sachin Stopped playing those lofted extra cover drives

The time period was in the early 2000s when I was watching Sachin Tendulkar bat and wondering why has he suddenly stopped playing those aerial shots. Instead he was looking for the gaps. The explanation came a few days later that he was trying to play the complete 50 overs. That did not make much of a difference because Sehwag and Ganguly were now playing the role Sachin played in the 90s alone. Yuvraj Singh emerged as a solid finisher and the team was now stable.
This time around in 2011-2012 team looks solid again and I wonder If Sachin should forget about batting 50 overs and treat us to those high flying shots again.
